We founded our company on Slow Food principles. Supporting local, supporting good and clean choices. In our shops we source only American artisanal craft chocolate makers. Here's a fine selection for the region and while it is growing by leaps and bounds we're sure the chocolate bar enthusiast will find these quite tasty.
- French Broad Chocolates Tumbes Cooperative 70% (Asheville, North Carolina)
At the 2012 Peruvian “Salon de Chocolate”, the Tumpis Cooperative was awarded Best in Show for this year’s crop of organic, fair trade cacao beans from the northwest coastal region of Tumbes. We are very proud to have imported two metric tons of this cacao from a cooperative in northwestern Peru. Our first offering with these beans is a 70% formulation. Its bright, fruit-forward palate has a delightful raisin finish.
- Videri Chocolate 70% Dark (Raleigh, North Carolina)
Classic dark chocolate bars have 70% cocoa and according to a North Carolina State University study, have almost twice the antioxidants of most of the larger national dark chocolate brands.
- Black Mountain Dominican Dark (Black Mountain, North Carolina)
The fine flavors of Dominican Republic Hispanola cacao are highlighted in this bar. Cacao from the DR produces a bright flavor, with deep, red chocolate notes.
- Potomac Upala 70% from (Woodbridge, Virginia)
Upala 70% is dark chocolate made using cacao from the Upala district of Costa Rica. Rich and earthy dark chocolate with notes of raspberry and caramel.
- Olive & Sinclair Chocolate Co. 75% Dominican Dark (Nashville, Tennessee)
Our darkest chocolate to date. Has a slight tropical earthiness with undertones of tobacco and vibrant notes of lemon zest lingering to the finish. Made using organic cacao beans from the Conacado Cooperative, pure brown sugar and pure press cacao butter from the Dominican Republic... We think this chocolate bar is a great reflection of the quality of the cacao grown in the Dominican Republic, and is certain to be any aficionados favorite.
** Bars may change depending on seasonality and inventory. If such a change does occur it will be made with care and comparative taste profile and quality assurances.
The Secret Chocolatier ships Tuesday through Thursday during most of the year to avoid chocolates and confections sitting in a warehouse over a weekend. During the Winter climates this may be relaxed and can be asked, contact us for more information.
Please pay attention to your tracking numbers and shipping estimates. Unless otherwise specified USPS Priority 2-3 Day is what we ship. Our products are packaged with ice and wrapped carefully but this will not stop a hot summer day and product exposure for the day. We do not use heat stabilizers (see wax & science) so enjoy our natural product how we intended.
